"Mr. Thos. Gragg Killed

"On Wednesday of last week, Mr. Thomas Gragg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Finley Gragg, and a trusted employee of the Boone Fork Lumber people ever since the Company began operations in the county, met his death in a most peculiar way. He was logging, using a double-bladed axe, and when he stopped to eat his lunch at noon, he stuck the axe in the log he was cutting. After eating and resting, he lighted his pipe and returned to his work.

"In attempting to step up on the log his foot slipped and he fell his full weight on the blade of the axe which buried itself in his side, death resulting before surgical aid could reach him. Interment was made near his home the following day, his kinsman, the Rev. E. M. Gragg, conducting the funeral. Deceased leaves a young wife and two small children."
