Born Jan. 27, 1920 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Finley and Crettie Ritch Coffey. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Louise Nichols Bingham and Sandra Nichols; one sister, Beulah Nichols; and two brothers, Jay and Tom Coffey. She was a member of Rufus Baptist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher. She served the Lord handing out tracts and also was a giver to those in need. She enjoyed bird watching and collecting rocks. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Lenny Edward Nichols; five children, Mary Seagle and husband, Earl of Lenoir, Caroline Annas and husband, Raymond of Belmont, Clarence "Nick" Nichols and wife, Robin of Spruce Pine, Martha West and husband, Dennis of Lenoir, and David Nichols of Lenoir; her brother, Bob Coffey and wife, Anne; three sisters, Lena Clark, Lillie Greene and Beadie Clark and husband, Ralph, all of Lenoir; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Rufus Baptist Church with Revs. Joe Helton, Stuart White, and A.E. Shell, and Chaplain Steve Butler officiating. Burial followed in the Lenny and Mary Nichols Cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Richard Walker, Jason Walker, Charles Bingham, Brian Bingham, Brett Bingham, Brandon Craig, Jonathan Hicks and Barry Wright. Lennie Edward Nichols, son of Lennie Lee Nichols and Henrietta Curtis, was born on 2 April 1920 in Spotsville Co., VA. Lennie died in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 9 May 2015 and was buried at Lenny & Mary Nichols Family Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 12 May 2015 .45677,45678 Obituary, The News-Topic, Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC, Sun., May 10, 2015 Lenny Edward Nichols, 95, of Lenoir went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born April 2, 1920, in Spotsylvania, Va., he was a son of the late Rev. Lenny Lee and Henrietta Curtis Nichols and the husband of the late Mary Coffey Nichols, with whom he shared over 69 years of marriage. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Louise Nichols Bingham and Sandra Marie Nichols. He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings, including, Richard Nichols, Mollie Nichols, Alice Nichols, Oscar Nichols, Joncie Swearengin, Lucy Summerow, George Nichols , Clarence Nichols and Marie Coffey. Mr. Nichols will always be remembered as a hardworking man. Starting at age 12, he worked to provide for his family. He loved farming and raising chickens and mules. After retiring from Singer Furniture he later returned to Kincaid Furniture where he worked and retired again at the age of 83. He and his wife, Mary, were considered very kind and generous and known for taking people into their home during hard times and caring for them. He is sur vived by five children, Mary Nichols Seagle and husband Earl of Lenoir, Caroline Nichols Annas and husband Raymond of Belmont, Clarence "Nick" Nichols and wife Robin of Spruce Pine, Mar tha Nichols West and husband Dennis of Col let ts-ville, and James David Nichols of the home; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mr. Nichols' life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rufus Baptist Church with the Rev. A.E. Shell, the Rev. Raymond Spann, and the Rev. Steve Hedge-cock officiating. A private burial will follow in the Nichols Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Nichols. The family would like to express their gratitude to Richard Todd Walker, one of Mr. Nichols' grandsons, for all of the love, dedication and care he provided to both his Grandmother and Grandfather.
