Mrs. Essie Jennings Crump, 84, of Gunpowder Road, Granite Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, December 7, 2009 at College pines Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 24, 1925 in Caldwell County, North Carolina to the late Andrew Jennings and Bertha Coffey Jennings. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Lawrence Crump, Jr.; a grandson, Larry Todd Moss; five sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Crump was a very active member of Harvest Church and was a part of the Women's Ministry, a Sunday School Teacher, and a Choir Member. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a pastor's wife who served along side her husband for 63 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann McDonald and husband Doug and Brenda Grasty and husband Rick all of Granite Falls, N.C.; two sons, Kenneth Crump and wife Cora Mae of Lenoir, N.C. and David Crump and wife Sharon of Granite Falls, N.C.; six grandsons, Chris Powell and wife Beverly of Hickory, N.C., Chad Moss and wife Beth of Granite Falls, N.C., Greg Crump and wife Vickie of Hudson, N.C., Brian Crump and wife Darlene of Hudson, N.C., Toby McDonald and wife April of Granite Falls, N.C. and Ryan Grasty and wife Karen of Wilmington, N.C.; four granddaughters, April Wingler and husband Tim of Granite Falls, N.C., Leslie Center and husband Todd of Greer, S.C., Shannon Macrini and husband Mike of Dunedin, Florida and Rayetta Henderson and husband Daniel of Durham, NC; 10 great-grandsons, five great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Virginia Killen and husband Cliff of Lenoir, N.C.; two brothers, Bobby Jennings and wife Julie of Reddings, California and Ronald Lowdermilk of Lenoir, N.C.; a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Harvest Church.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Harvest Church with the Rev. Dr. Marion Poythress and the Rev. Dr. Buford Pennell officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir. Pallbearers for Mrs. Crump will be Todd Center, Mike Macrini, Jordan Wingler, Chad Moss, Toby McDonald, Tim Wingler, Greg Crump and Brian Crump.

Lawrence Crump Jr., son of Lawrence Crump and Ruby Ann Coffey, was born on 3 June 1925 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC. Lawrence died on 9 December 2006 at the age of 81 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 12 December 2006.46341

Granite Falls, N.C. - The Rev. Lawrence Crump Jr., 81, of Gunpowder Road in Granite Falls, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Born June 3, 1925, in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Lawrence Crump Sr. and Ruby Coffey Crump.

The Rev. Crump was Pastor Emeritus of Harvest Church in Hudson for the past 10 years. The Rev. Crump was ordained as a minister in 1950 with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church and served as pastor for the past 56 years. Harvest Church was built and dedicated to the Rev. Crump for his many years of ministry to the congregation. The Rev. Crump built three churches and two parsonages, a fellowship hall and educational building during his ministry. Family members and friends constructed a church in Guatemala in the Rev. Crump's honor in 2004.

He was a loving, caring man of God who was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Larry Todd Moss; a brother, Gaylord Crump; and two sisters, Elizabeth Woody and Mary Ingram.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Essie Jennings Crump of the home; two sons, Kenneth B. Crump and wife, Cora, of Lenoir and David A. Crump and wife, Sharon, of Granite Falls; two daughters, Mary Ann McDonald and husband, Doug, of Granite Falls and Brenda C. Grasty and husband, Rick, of Granite Falls; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronnie Crump of the Globe; and four sisters, Winnie Christian of Granite Falls, Ressie Dupuis of Lenoir, Dovie Bentley of Hudson and Dollie Coffey of Valdese.

The funeral for the Rev. Crump will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Harvest Church, with Bishop Tommy McGhee and the Revs. Drs. Marion Poythress and Buford Pennell officiating.

Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
