Coffey the son of Lewis and Josephine Coffey, of Russell county, while working at a saw mill was killed. He was born October 10, 1870. His father died several years ago leaving a large family. Basil being the eldest son, assumed the responsibilities of a father. He was a kind and loving son and brother and was a model young man and stood high in his community. His honesty was unquestioned, he loved to read good books and his associates were among the best of people. He was use to his community and liked by every one and he was a friend to every one he knew. He has a host of friends who feel his loss and sympathze [sic] with his bereaved mother and near relatives. He is in the hands of a just and merciful God and taking his good life and conduct, who have no doubt but what he has gone to rest in a better beyond.
