This family moved to Wilkes Co., NC (land entry dated 1 Oct 1779) where they remained for the rest of their lives. Robert was a captain in the Revolutionary War, and was at King's Mountain. He is said to have sired 17 children by two wives. Alice "Aley" Mathis was born on 11 December 1750 in Kentucky. Alice died in Wilkes Co., NC on 18 December 1791 and was buried at Cleveland Cemetery in Purlear, Wilkes Co., NC in December 1791 .89 Capt.
