Coffey Vaden MacDonald Coffey, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at sunrise, Saturday (May 28, 2005) in his home, surrounded by those he loved. A kind and gentle man who took joy in the happiness of others, he left at peace with his life's accomplishments and with his Lord. His generosity, love and ever present sense of humor always put a friend or stranger at east. He was born May 26, 1917 in Amherst County, a son of the late Frank Anderson and Minnie Garland (Crawford) Coffey. For 31 years, he and his wife owned and operated the Esquire Men's Shot, Ltd. He always had a smile for a friend or neighbor. He was a World War II veteran. He was educated in Amherst County and attended Dunsmore Business College. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Agnes Allen Coffey; a son, Harold Edward Coffey and his wife, Andrea, of Hudson, Wisconsin; a daughter Patricia Coffey Childs of Staunton; four grandchildren, Robert Brown "Trey" Childs III, Jason Patrick Aaron Childs, both of Staunton, Wyndemere Elizabeth Coffey, and Heath Edward Coffey of Minneapolis, MN; a great granddaughter, Ellianna May Coffey of Minneapolis, MN; and many dear friends. He will be missed by all to whose lives he brought happiness. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday (May 31, 2005) in the Henry Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Judson Baldwin. Burial will follow in the Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert B. "Trey" Childs, Jason P. Childs, John Green, Doug Pham, Eric Bailey, and Bill Jolliff. Honorary pallbearers will be George Allen, James Allen, and Gorman Allen.
