Farrow Lawton Coffey, Jr., 92, of Lynchburg, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2016 at his residence. Born March 1, 1924 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Farrow Lawton Coffey, Sr. and Mary Godsey Coffey and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Marie Coffey; a brother, Philip C. Coffey, and a sister, Phyllis C. Layne. Mr. Coffey was the retired owner & operator of Coffey Brothers Construction Company and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Coffey is survived by two daughters, Janet C. Powell of Lynchburg and Margaret C. Booth and husband Corwin of Berkley, CA; three grandchildren, Maria Hartley, Olivia Booth, and Cory Booth and a special friend, Jean Garris of Lynchburg. The family wishes to thank Mr. Coffey’s caregivers, Patricia Burnett and Sadie Moon, for the wonderful care they both provided for Mr. Coffey. A graveside service with military honors by Altavista American Legion Post 36 and Gretna American Legion Post 232, combined will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Rev.
