Talmage enlisted in the US Army and was on 10 December 1909 at Amherst Co., VA. "Discharged without honor" at Columbus Barracks, Columbus, Franklin Co., OH on 20 April 1910.⁴²²⁵⁴ He registered for the WWI draft on 5 June 1917 in Benton Harbor, Berrien Co., MI.⁴²²⁵⁵ He registered for the WWII draft on 27 April 1942 in Traverse City, Grand Traverse Co., MI.⁴²²⁵⁶
