Nellie Mae Coffey Crawford

Nellie Mae Coffey Crawford, 93, of Madison Heights, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Russell William Crawford.
Born Aug. 21, 1913, in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Chester W. and Ottie Hamilton Coffey. Mrs. Crawford was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Sandidges.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Coffey.

Mrs. Crawford is survived by one son, Billy Crawford and his wife, Bernice; two daughters, Ruth Ann Schmitt and Gladys Mae Gibson, all of Madison Heights; one brother, Richard Coffey and his wife, Ruby, of Lynchburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special caregiver and friend, Milford Thomas of Madison Heights.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Whitten Monelison Chapel by the Rev. Charlie Harbin and the Rev. David Heerspink. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, Ruth Ann, 200 Greenwood Drive, Madison Heights.

Nellie Mae Coffey and Russell William Crawford were married. Russell William Crawford, son of Eddie Walter Crawford and Corabell Hudson, was born on 28 June 1913 in Virginia. Russell died of an acute myocardial infarction and was buried at on 2 January 1979 at the age of 65 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA and was buried at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Amherst, Amherst Co., VA.^47892,47893
