He was born May 1, 1932, son of the late John Robey Coffey and Mamie Womack Coffey. He was retired from Ga. Bonded Fibers. Mr. Coffey attended St. John's United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad. He was on the board of directors of the Macedonia Community Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Cropp Coffey. He is survived by two daughters, Gayle Sellars and husband, Bill of Roanoke, and Joan Dalton and special friend, Todd Savage of Mooresville, N.C.; one son, Pike Coffey and wife, Sue of Coffeytown; one brother, David M. Coffey and wife, Janie of Coffeytown; three sisters, Jeanie Thomas and husband, Bob of Anniston, Ala., Shirley Humphries and husband, Jessie of Vesuvius, Patsy Wingfield and husband, Larry of Charlottesville; a special friend, Doris Higginbotham; four grandchildren, Robey Coffey, Jasmine Lawhorne, Mark Sellars and Carrie Sellars. Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service with the Reverend Rebekah Johns Glass and David Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Macedonia Community Association, 1408 Coffeytown Rd., Vesuvius, Va. 24483. She was a native of Buena Vista and a member and Elder of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. She was employed by the State of Virginia as Clerk of the General District Court. Surviving are her husband, William L. Coffey, a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Bill Sellars, Roanoke; a son and daughter-in-law, Pike and Sue Coffey, Amherst County; a daughter and fiance, Joan Coffey and Grett Dalton, Richmond; one brother, William Gordon Cropp, Nags Head, N. C.; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Marc Sherrod. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Lomax Funeral Chapel.
