Martha is probably the daughter of John and Darkus Turnmire, found in the 1850 Caldwell Co., NC census. At the time of that census, the John Turnmire family was a neighbor of William, Jr. and Margaret Robbins Coffey. Martha died in Yadkin Valley Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 17 March 1927 of a cerebral hemorrhage and was buried at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 18 March 1927 .5940,5941 It appears that Oliver Shuford Coffey died prior to 1870. The Wilkes Co. census for that year includes the family of Larkin Nelson, wife Martha, and their daughter Jane, age 1. Three other children in the household are Julia, Emma and William Coffey, ages 10, 8 and 6 respectively. The one major problem with this idea is that Martha the wife is only age 28 years.
