HILLTOP — Ida Virginia Coffey McGuffin, 87, of Hilltop, formerly of Maple Fork, died on Monday, March 2, 2015. Born August 9, 1927 at Harvey, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Viola Walker Coffey. She was a homemaker. Mrs. McGuffin was a member of the Maple Fork Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked with the children in Bible school and sang in the choir. Her first husband, Ivan Davis, second husband, Thomas W. McGuffin; daughter, Brenda Sue Davis; and a grandson, Timmy Wheeler preceded her in death. As the last surviving member of her immediate family she was also preceded in death by brothers, Raymond Coffey, Darrell Coffey, James Coffey, Luther Chambers, Walter Coffey and Lefrage Chambers and sister, Lula Chambers McClanahan. Ida leaves behind a devoted and loving family which includes daughter, Kay Wheeler and husband, Larry of Oak Hill; son, James T. "Jim" Davis and wife, Paula of Arnett; three grandchildren, Ron Wheeler of Oak Hill, Angela Akers and husband, Douglas of Prosperity and James Matthew Davis and wife, Jodie of Arnett; and a great granddaughter, Britiny Akers of Prosperity. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Marguerite Marshall of Grafton; and nieces and nephews, Howard Chambers, David Chambers, Gary Chambers, Larry Hicks, Shirley Caudle, Pat Chambers, Jerry Miller, Connie Charlet, Michael Coffey, Thomas Coffey, Dianna Catron, Tammy Crews and Pat Hash. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, with Rev. Robert Pauley officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. Jerry Miller, Doug Akers, Ronnie Wheeler, Matt Davis, Britiny Akers and Jim Davis will serve as pallbearers. Ida Virginia Coffey and Ronald Ivan Davis were married on 13 December 1945 in Beckley, Raleigh Co., WV.⁴²¹⁷⁰ Ronald Ivan Davis, son of Deck Davis and Magdelean L. Davis, was born on 28 May 1917 in Maple Fork, Raleigh Co., WV. He lived with his parents in Maple Fork, Raleigh Co., WV on 15 April 1940. Ronald enlisted in the US Army on 27 May 1943 at Huntington, Cabell Co., WV.⁴²¹⁷¹ Ronald died in West Virginia on 14 April 1992.⁴²¹⁷²
