Mayo Carrington Harlow and Alease T. Torrence were married. Alease T. Torrence, daughter of Charles McFarland Torrence and Anna Tweedy, was born on 21 October 1921 in Concord, Appomattox Co., VA. She lived with her parents in Rustburg, Campbell Co., VA on 8 April 1930. She lived in Rustburg, Campbell Co., VA on 2 May 1940. Alease died in Bedford (Independent City), VA on 13 March 2010 and was buried at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford (Independent City), VA on 17 March 2010 .

Alease T. Harlow, 88, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Elks National Home where she had resided for the last eight years.

Born October 21, 1921 in Concord, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles McFarland Torrence, Sr. and Anna Tweedy Torrence. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mayo C. Harlow, one son, Mayo Carrington Harlow, III, four brothers, Pate, Jimmy, Emmitt, and John Torrence, six sisters, Evelyn T. Clark, Madeline T. Jones, Helen T. Heery, Marion T. Evans, Sarah T. "Peg" Torrence and Nancy T. Long. Alease was a long time member of Bedford Baptist Church.

She was a strong supporter of Bedford through both volunteer work and charitable giving. In 2006, Alease received the Bedford Community Health Award for her generous contributions to the foundation and to numerous organizations within the Bedford area. She believed in volunteering and giving back to the community and did so throughout her lifetime.

She is survived by a devoted daughter-in-law, Catherine C. Harlow, of Richmond; one granddaughter, Robyn W. Moorhead and her husband, Robert, of Richmond; three great-grandsons, Bobby, Brett and Andrew, all of Richmond; one brother, R.B. "Dick" Torrence, of Lynchburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Betty and Rucker Inge of Bedford, for their friendship and dedication to Mrs. Harlow and to the Elks National Home Special Care Staff for their loving care and concern throughout Aleases' residence at the home.

Mayo Carrington Harlow III was born in 1944 in Virginia. Mayo died in Virginia on 25 August 2003 and was buried at Dale Memorial Park in Chesterfield, Chesterfield Co., VA on 28 August 2003 .47763

Mayo C. Harlow III of Midlothian died suddenly Monday, August 25, 2003 at the age of 59. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Catherine "Kitty" Harlow; his precious daughter, Robyn W. Moorhead and her husband, Bob; three young grandsons, Bobby, Brett and Andrew; and his mother, Alease T. Harlow of Bedford, Va.

For many years Mr. Harlow worked in the savings and loan industry in both Washington, D.C. and in the Richmond area. Over the past 15 years, Mr. Harlow was employed with the Division of Finance, Department of Social Services. He was a member of the Salisbury Presbyterian Church. He also contributed a great deal to his community and the Boy Scout's organization, believing in the Eagle Scout program, of which he was a member. Mr. Harlow had served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Greensboro College, and presently was serving as President of the Alumni Association.

The family will receive friends at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Road, Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., with services to begin 2 p.m. Interment Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greensboro College Institutional Advancement, or the Boy Scouts of America.
