Mrs. Martha Jane Coffey Stapleton, 80, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Stapleton was born in Caldwell County Jan. 16, 1930, to the late Charles and Julia Knight Coffey. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stapleton was predeceased by her first husband, George Townsend; six brothers, William, Collis, Paul, Ralph, Tony and Max Coffey; and one sister, Leathie Hodge.

She is survived by her sister, Effie Coffey and husband Edgar of Lenoir; her special child, Tina Coleman of Lenoir; a special friend, Barbara Dillard of Lenoir; her caregiver, Patricia Coffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mrs. Stapleton's life will be held o Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Worship Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Gibson officiating. Interment will follow at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, N.C.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 29, 2010, from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service at Worship Point Baptist Church.
