8575. Jennie Coffey was born on 16 April 1896 in Oneida, Scott Co., TN. Jennie was not with her parents in the 1900 census. Jennie died on 14 April 1992 at the age of 95 in Jefferson Co., AL and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL.26747

Mrs. Jennie Coffey Newport, 95, of Tarrant died today. She was a member of Eastern Star and a Baptist. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood, Roebuck Chapel directing. Survivors: son, Marshall Newport, Tarrant; sisters, Mrs. Agnes Mays and Mrs. Ina Morris, both of Oneida, Tenn., Mrs. Christine Davis, Cincinnati.

Jennie Coffey and Willard Douglas Newport were married on 21 January 1920 in Scott Co., TN.26748 They26748 appeared in the census on 29 April 1930 in Fairmont Village, Jefferson Co., AL.26749 Willard Douglas Newport, son of Thomas Newport and Rebecca Long, was born circa 1890. Willard died in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL on 8 July 1962. His burial site is not yet known to me.26750

Marshall L. Newport was born in 1925 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL. Marshall died in Tarrant, Jefferson Co., AL on 7 January 2001. Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL in January 2001 .26751

Newport, Marshall L., 76, of Tarrant City, AL, died January 7, 2001. He was born in Birmingham and lived here all his life.

After graduating from Phillips High, he joined the Air Corps and piloted B-24's in WWII. He worked at ACIPCO as a blacksmith for 37 years. He was a member of Aldersgate UMC in Homewood. He was also a Mason and a member of The American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose Alford Newport; and three sons, Marshall, Neal and David, as well as four grandchildren and life long friends, George and Betty Chiles. His sons will always remember him as a fine "scratch foreman."

Visitation was Monday, January 8, 2001, at Roebuck Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service were held at Elmwood Tuesday, January 9, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Aldersgate UMC in Homewood.
