He was the husband of Mary Lou Hudson Coffey for 51 years. Born in Amherst County, he was a son of the late Farrow Lawton Coffey and Mary Godsey Coffey. He served in the Korean Conflict, U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Paratrooper and was a lifetime member of the Elks and the Marine Corps League. He was retired from G.E. and was a former building contractor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Terry Lou Coffey Blatchley and he husband, James of Huntington, W. Va.; a brother, F. Lawton Coffey Jr. of Lynchburg; a sister, Phillis Layne of Monrovia, Calif.; two grandchildren, Allison and Angela; and his beloved cat Muffin. A funeral service was conducted Oct. 26 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by the Rev. Corey Ingold. The family received friends after the service.
