Witt -- Homer "Hambone" Coffey, 89, of Witt died 12:17 p.m. Friday (April 27, 1990) in Hillsboro Health Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Witt United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Witt, with 8 p.m. Masonic services. Burial will be in Witt Cemetery.

Mr. Coffey was born in Witt, son of Moses and Mary Coffey. He was a painter and paper hanger, member of United Methodist Church, Irving Masonic Lodge and a Navy veteran of World War I. He married Geneva Snyder in 1925. She died in 1979.

Surviving are his son, Dennis of Carbondale; daughters, Colleen Kozuk of Muncie, Ind.; Sherry Mathis of York, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Homer O. "Hambone" Coffey and Geneva P. Mathewson were married. Geneva P. Mathewson was born in 1903. Geneva died in Illinois on 19 June 1979 and was buried at Witt Cemetery in Witt, Montgomery Co., IL on 22 June 1979 .²³⁵⁹⁴

Geneva P. Coffey

Witt-Mrs. Geneva P. Coffey, 76, of Witt, died at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at Hawthorne Lodge, Hillsboro.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Witt United Methodist Church. Burial in Witt Cemetery.

Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home, Witt, is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are her husband, Homer; two sons, Ross Snyder of Houston, Texas and Dennis Coffey of Makanda; two daughters, Mrs. Colleen Kozuk of New Providence, N. J., and Mrs. Sherry Mathis of York, Pa.; a brother, Carl Mattewson of Mulberry Grove; ten grand-children; and six great-grandchildren.
