Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Hickman-Strunk Funeral Home with Bro. George Allen Coffey and Bro. Dwight Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Angel Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 11:00 am Sunday at the funeral home. Larry was born in Slavens, Kentucky on September 18, 1949, to Homer Coffey and Ada Clark Coffey. He moved to Muncie, Indiana as a young man and worked as a millwright. Larry married Donna Bowden on August 4, 1973 and to this union two children were born, Vanessa Bryant and Carl Coffey. He later returned to Stearns and worked in construction. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and music. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his two granddaughters; Kassidy and Emma Bryant. Larry never met a stranger and had a razor quick wit and contagious sense of humor and could spin quite a yarn and tall tale. Larry was a Christian man and was a member of the Cherokee United Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were: his mother and father, Ada Clark Coffey and Homer Coffey; one sister, Lenna Vaughn; one brother-in-law, Truesdale Coffey; and one sister-in-law, Amy Coffey. He is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Donna Coffey, of Whitley City; one daughter, Vanessa Bryant, of Stearns; one son, Carl Coffey and his wife, Leslie, of Somerset; two granddaughters, Kassidy Bryant and Emma Bryant; four brothers, George Allen Coffey and his wife, Evelyn, of Stearns, Donald Coffey and his wife, Sue, of Stearns, Gary Coffey of Whitley City, Mike Coffey of Somerset; one brother-in-law, Dale Vaughn; four sisters, Joyce Coffey of Somerset, Anita Sutton and her husband, Dwight, of Stearns, Sandra Strunk and her husband, Charles, of Stearns, Brenda Coffey of Stearns; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
