She was born June 5, 1937, in Caldwell County to the late Rome and Mettie Church Watson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Floyd Watson and Jerry Watson. Mrs. Coffey was a member of Rufus Baptist Church and had worked as a chair inspector at Sherrill Furniture. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. Mrs. Coffey was a Christian woman who loved the Lord and her church. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and going to cruise-ins. She loved her pets and loved to dance. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Robert C. Coffey Sr. of the home; two sons, Bobby Coffey and wife Theresa, and Jimmy Coffey, all of Lenoir; one daughter, Peggy Pritchard and husband Bob of Lenoir; two brothers, Odell Watson and wife Laura of Morganton, and Billy Watson of Lenoir; five grandchildren, Kenny Starnes and Nickki, Crystal Chester and husband Robbie, Bobby Coffey III and wife Sheena, Melissa Pearce and husband Mike, and Robyn Billings and husband Matt, all of Lenoir; four great-grandchildren, Jadyn Coffey, Robert Starnes and wife Samantha, and Michael Pearce, all of Lenoir, and Jessica Clark and husband Logan of Kentucky; two great-great-grandchildren, Clayton Starnes, and Bryson Starnes; and nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own children, Martha West, Mary Seagle, Caroline Annas, Nick Nichols, and David Nichols. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bryan Davis, the Rev. A.E. Shell, the Rev. Raymond Spann, and Kenny Starnes. Interment will immediately follow in the Coffey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
