Estell Kelly Coffey, age 95, of Lenoir, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 31, 1921 in DeSoto County, MS to the late Samuel and Nora Glenn Kelly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Edgar Lee Coffey; one brother, Laverne (Pat) Kelly; and three grandsons, Leroy Beaver, Michael Keller, and Jordan Lee Coffey.

Homemaker is such a simple word but anyone can tell you it’s best said that Estell "made the home!” She was a darling daughter, sweet sister, devoted wife and loving momma, but she is best known as Granny, and that house on the hill is called Granny’s. Everyone in the family’s best memories came from that house and they all include her sweet soul! She treasured every one of her grandchildren and even more so, her great-grandbabies. Everyone will miss her saying “HI!” followed by a hug and a kiss when you walk in! Granny’s door was always open to anyone, and there was always something simmering on the stove and fresh biscuits on the table! She was a fantastic baker, from yellow cake with chocolate icing to pound cakes to cobbler she could make it all!! Most of Granny’s sweets went to Kings Creek Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, always serving in bible school every summer as long as she was able. It was 364 days since her husband, papaw, made his way thru the pearly gates, and she couldn’t wait another day to see him again! It is such a comfort to know they are together again doing what they do best and watching over all their precious children.

Her spirit will live on in the loved ones she leaves behind, three sons, Clyde Coffey (Vickie), James Coffey, and Sammy Coffey (Julie); three daughters, Elaine Price, Lena Carlton, and Debra Crouch (Mike); twin sister, Flora Kelly Scott; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Kings Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Randy Goode and Rev. Gary Waters. Interment will immediately follow at the Coffey Family Cemetery.
