Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dick Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Zephyr Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Heartland Funeral Home, Early. Mrs. Coffey, a longtime resident of Fort Worth, had lived in Zephyr for the past 30 years. She was retired from General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin). Mrs. Coffey was born in Cottle County, Texas on October 11, 1913. She graduated from Albany High School, where she played volleyball and basketball. During World War II, she began working at Consolidated Aircraft Corporation, now Lockheed Martin, where she retired after more than 25 years. She was a regular member of a gospel quartet that entertained employees during the lunch break. She loved dancing, bingo at Redman Lodge, slot machines in Las Vegas, and hummingbirds and bluebonnets around her front porch. Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband, William Lynn Coffey. The family request memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary C. and Barbara Hitt of Huntsville, LA; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Chris Cunningham of Houston; five granddaughters, Lisa Farra and Gina Goyne of Houston, Kim Woodson of Denton, Laura Hitt of Atlanta, GA, Karen Hitt Allen of Jackson, MS; and four great- granddaughters.
