EARL GRIGG MORRIS

Funeral service for Earl Grigg Morris, 90, of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2002, at the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah.

Earl Grigg Morris was born February 29, 1912, in Grady County, Oklahoma, the son of Grigg Madison and C. Grace (Coffey) Morris, and died October 3, 2002, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Mr. Morris lived all of his life in Grady County. He had farmed in the Ninnekah area since 1948.

He and Velma Mildred Holt were married November 14, 1934. She preceded him in death September 19, 1999.

Mr. Morris was a Member of the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah, where he served as a deacon for 48 years.

He has been involved with a number of activities and social events. Some of his activities include beingdirector of Federal Land Bank, Production Credit Association and a member of the Grady County Fair Board.

He also was a member of the ASCS, president of the Grady County Planning Commission, an honorary member of the Ninnekah FFA, served on the Ninnekah School Board, and was a director of Grady County Agriculture Census.

He was a past president of the Lions Club, served on the Farm Bureau Board, was a member of the Grady County Dairy Breeder Association and a member of Associated Milk Producers Inc.

He also served at the church as Sunday School Superintendent. He enjoyed spending time working in the garden.

Morris raised his family on the dairy farm.

Survivors include: 3 sons: Early Morris, Jr., of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, Bobby Morris of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Dave Morris of Bossier City, Louisiana; 1 daughter: Gail Morris of Chickasha, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. [Source: Barbie Kister Morris]
