Kathleen Esther Taylor, 94, of Amherst, passed away Friday February 24, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on January 17, 1923, in Massie Mill, a daughter of the late Ody V. Coffey and Ester Coffey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Taylor, in 2001; two sisters Bernice Taylor and Flossie Roman; and one brother, Ody William Coffey. Kathleen was a member of Massies Mill Presbyterian Church in Roseland. She is survived by three daughters, Elodie Thompson,Pamela Taylor, Sandra Bennett (Thomas); six grandchildren, John Clayton Thompson, Meredith T. Ford (Frank), Jessica Hartsell (Mike), Tom Bennett, Kaitlin Bennett and Lacey Bennett; and eight great-grandchildren, Brady and Madeline Thompson, Delton, Madison, Neelyn and Easton Hartsell, Natalie White of and Mallory Ford. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland with Pastor Roger Powell officiating. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Kathleen's memory to Bethany United Methodist Church 119 Wilkerson Farm Road, Monroe, VA 24574.
