Mrs. Hewitt was a member of the Mountain Top Christian Church at Love. She was the widow of Hause Hewitt, who died in 1926, and had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Plummer since 1929. Born in Augusta County Oct. 27, 1881, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Sallie Snead Campbell. Surviving are four sons, Dubert Hewitt and Earsie Hewitt, both of Lyndhurst, Russell Hewitt of Route 2, Stuarts Draft, and Thurman Hewitt of Waynesboro; four daughters, Mrs. Harry (Nellie) Plummer of Route 2, Stuarts Draft, Mrs. Walter (Thelma) Henderson of Waynesboro, Mrs. Thomas (Lillian) Moran of Route 1, Stuarts Draft, and Mrs. Harman (Maudie) Gray of Lyndhurst; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Harris of Williamson, W. Va., Mrs. Solone Henderson of Waynesboro and Mrs. Lelia Small of Lyndhurst; also 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren, conducted by the Rev. Guy Stump, the Rev, Grant Simmons and the Rev. Roy Kiser, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Etter Funeral Home.
