Born February 21, 1942 in Caldwell County he was the son of the late Michael Fairaday Coffey and Trilby Drucilla Kirby Coffey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Rita Clark. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran and an avid outdoorsman, fisherman and he never met a stranger. He is survived by his three sons Robert Kelly Coffey of Vale, Michael Lynn Coffey of Granite Falls, Larry Allen Coffey of Lenoir; three sisters Sharon Annas of Havelock, NC, Linda Townsend of Granite Falls, Angela Coffey of Granite Falls; six brothers Dick Coffey of Claremont, Michael Coffey, Frank Coffey, Stanley Coffey, Eddie Coffey, John Coffey all of Granite Falls; his grandchildren Dalton, Madison, Mason, Caleb, Ally, Sawyer, and BreAnna. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, 11:30 a.m. at Temple Hill Baptist Church, Granite Falls with Rev. Darrell Hatchell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 6. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Temple Hill Baptist Church. Robert’s brothers will serve as pallbearers.
