Coffey, Homer Hines
MORGANTON Homer Hines Coffey, 85, of Morganton, passed to his heavenly home Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born in Burke County, April 19, 1931, and was the son of the late Homer Darwin Coffey and Willie Eloise Hines Coffey. He loved to garden, loved music, and his Lord. Homer was a loving father and grandfather. He was a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Orders Coffey. Homer is survived by sons, Mark Coffey and wife, Maxine and Keith Coffey, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Jenny Coffey and Matthew Coffey; great-grandchildren, Gabe Abee and Gannon Abee; and brother-in-law, the Rev. David Orders and wife, Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Orders officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
