Wilburn Eugene Townsend and Annie Pauline Rash were married in 1965 in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC.⁴⁶³⁷⁷ Annie Pauline Rash, daughter of Doughton William Rash and Annie Mae Church, was born on 21 April 1929 in Wilkes Co., NC.⁴⁶³⁷⁸ She died on 11 January 2011 at the age of 81 at Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville, Alexander Co., NC and was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausolem in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 18 January 2011.⁴⁶³⁷⁹

Annie Pauline Townsend, age 81, of Old Johns River Road, Collettsville, died Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville. She was born April 21, 1929 in Wilkes County to the late Doughton William and Annie Mae Baldwin Rash. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Eugene Townsend; one son, James Edward Townsend; one sister, Mary Billings; one brother, James Rash.

Mrs. Townsend was retired from Grand Manor Furniture and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Eugene Townsend and wife Janice of Lenoir and Douglas Wayne Townsend of Granite Falls; daughter-in-law, Melinda Townsend of Hudson; brother, Robert Bryant Rash of Lenoir; grandchildren, April Dawn Townsend, Ashley Kay Townsend, Amanda Michelle Townsend, Terry Wayne Townsend and Christopher Lee Avery; two great-grandchildren, Keeli Townsend and Mayci Leighann Norris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jim Lee and Rev. Dewey Bristol. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
