2306. John Coffey was born circa 1830 in Hawkins Co., TN.

Benjamin 1808-1867 and Nancy (Hayes) Coffey had two daughter in laws called "Rene". Serena Cope married John Coffey and Orena Coffey married Richardson Coffey. John had a first wife, they had one daughter Minerva, who was the second wife of William Riley Barnett. Janie Ramsey and Rance Coffey knew that Serena "Rene" (Cope) Coffey was not the mother of Minerva, but they did not know who John's first wife was and I never found a marriage record for them. They were not married in Grainger County, TN. Hawkins, Hancock and Claiborne County records are not complete. The marriage record for Richardson Coffey has her name spelled Serena, but her tombstone has it spelled Orenney. Richardson was killed during the Civil War. After his death, Rena married John White (E-mail, John White's Obit, Bennie Coffey Loftin, 4 Jul., 2005)

Serena died in Texas .
