Lee Roy Coffee

Lee Roy Coffee, 72, died unexpectedly Wednesday in the Central Kansas Medical Center. Born Oct. 2, 1893 in Rolla, Mo., he married Verna Birchfield Oct. 8, 1931 at St. John. He had been a resident of Great Bend since 1914. He was a retired miller.

He was a veteran of World War I, a member of Barracks 2109, American Legion, Modern Woodmen of America, and Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by the widow; brothers, Clarence, and John, both of Whittier, Calif., and Ernest, Great Bend; one sister Mrs. Albert Ardery, Copeland.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bryant and Fryberger Mortuary with the Rev. Emerson Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted by the World War I Barracks. Notice of sale of property was filed at the Barton Co., KS Probate Court and published in the Great Bend Daily Tribune on 2 August 1967 by Vera [sic] L. Coffee.
Petition by his wife Vera, "sole heir-at-law" to sell Lot 10, Block 75 of the Original City of Great Bend, KS.

Lee Roy Coffee and Verna Birchfield were married on 8 October 1931 in Saint John, Stafford Co., KS. Verna Birchfield was born (date unknown).
