F. Coffey is Dead Former Manning Mayor Passes Away Manning, Aug 4. - Special: Mr. T. F. Coffey died at his home on Brooks street today after a lingering illness. Mr. Coffey was near fifty-eight year old and had been prominent in the business circle of Manning for the past twenty-four years locating here coming from North Carolina, and engaging in the stock sales, and livery firm of Coffey & Rigby. During the past years he has been a trustee of the Manning Graded Schools, and has served as mayor of Manning. He leaves his widow who before her marriage was Miss Blanche Wells, and six children. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Manning Cemetery by the Rev. Brabham, of the Manning Baptist Church, and Interment in the family plot. Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Sallie M. Horton Wells. She was a former organist for Manning United Methodist Church as was the oldest member of the church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Henry M. Brabham of Gaffney, Mrs. Sara Kohler of Pageland, Mrs. Doris C. Carter and Mrs. L. K. Josey of Manning; two sons, William C. Coffey of Manning and Edgar S. Coffey of Columbia; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be 4 p.m. today in Shelley-Brunson Funeral Home of Manning with burial in Manning Cemetery.
