Omar Shively Coffey, 81, son of the late John Lewis Coffey and Susan L. Moore Coffey, born 26 Dec 1908 in Green Co. died 8 Apr 1990 in the Greenhill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Coffey was also an honorary deacon of the church. He was employed at Woodson-Lewis for 32 years and was a member of the Gospel Tone quartet for over 30 years. He was married to Margaret Givens on 27 Jan 1940, who resides in Greensburg. They had 2 sons and 2 daughters, Betty Jo Russell and Nancy Mills, both of Greensburg, and James Stewart Coffey, Lawrenceburg. He was preceded in death by Pfc. Robert Allen Coffey on 25 Feb 1969. Coffey was also survived by 4 brothers, George T. Coffey, Kenneth Coffey, Ellis Coffey and Vaughn Coffey, all of Greensburg; 1 sister, Mrs. Ollie Sullivan of Campbellsville; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral was at 2 pm Tues 10 Apr 1990 at the Cowherd & Funeral Home, with burial in the Bethlehem Cem. Dr. Gary Ervin officiated. Pallbearers were Glen Murray, Donnie Gentry, Tom Coffey, Chester Burris, Barry Houk, and Vernon Henderson.

Washington (AP) - The Defense Department has listed two more Kentuckians dead in Vietnam combat. They were Army S. Sgt. George F. Evans, husband of Della C. Evans, Munfordville, and Marine Pfc. Robert A. Coffey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Omar S. Coffey, Greensburg.
