Maude Ruth Taylor, 77, of River Bank Cove, Boone, the Foscoe community, died Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir. Born July 5, 1934, in the Grandfather community of Watauga County, Maude was a daughter of Joseph Virgil and Bertha Mae Coffey Fox. She was a member of Foscoe Christian Church. Mrs. Taylor owned and operated Taylor Marketing in Foscoe for many years. She enjoyed creative writing. Her published works included the book "In the Shadow of His Face." She also wrote, for a time, the Foscoe Community News column in the Watauga Democrat.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband, Creed Taylor; one daughter, Jodie Perry and husband, John, of Thomasville; three sons, Terry Taylor and wife, Judy Humphrey, and Mark Taylor and wife, Kim, all of Boone, and David Taylor and wife, Mary, of Banner Elk; two grandchildren, Jeremy Perry and wife, Wendy, of Harrisburg, and Mary Rachel Taylor of Banner Elk; four great-grandchildren, Greyson, Avery, Bryson and Addyson Perry, all of Harrisburg; and her sister, Betty Anderson and husband, J. C., of Abingdon, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bertha Mae Coffey Fox; two brothers, J. D. and John Lee Fox; and four sisters, Margaret Pell, Marsha Geitner, and two infants.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at Foscoe Christian Church, officiated by Pastors Ken Caswell, Dan Burks and J. C. Anderson. The family received friends Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., prior to services, at the church.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Foscoe Cemetery.
