Mary died on 17 January 1967 at the age of 85 at Waynesboro Community Hospital in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA and was buried at Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 18 January 1967.¹⁴³⁰⁵

Mrs. Mary Hester Fitzgerald, 87, of Route 2, Stuarts Draft, died at 12:20 a..m. Tuesday at the Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was a widow of Rufus H. Fitzgerald who died on Feb. !2, 1956.

Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of the Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church. She was the last member of her immediate family. A native of Nelson County, she was born on Sept. 9, 1879, a daughter of the late William and Samantha Coffey.

She is survived by three sons, Chester B. Fitzgerald of Route 1, Stuarts Draft, James A. Fitzgerald of Staunton, and Carl O. Fitzgerald of Route 1, Churchville; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Fitzgerald of Buena Vista and Mrs. William (Barbara) Darichuk of Detroit; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Paul Barnhart, assisted by the Rev. Roy D. Kiser. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Waynesboro.
Friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
