Daisy died in Nelson Co., VA on 10 November 1940 and was buried at Beech Grove Cemetery in Beech Grove, Nelson Co., VA on 11 November 1940 .14619

BEECH GROVE, Nov. 13-Funeral services for Mrs. Daisy Elva Dodd, 52, who died at her home Sunday morning at 7 o'clock, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Beech Grove Christian Church with the Rev. J. L. McKinney, of Lynchburg, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dodd was born at Love in Nelson County and lived in Nelson County all her life. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mattie Demastus Coffey.

To mourn their loss are, her husband Eddie S. Dodd; one son, Melvin Dodd; two daughters, Misses Celia and Elizabeth Dodd, all at home; and a sister, Mrs. John Arnold of Beech Grove.

Having been in ill health for some time, Mrs. Dodd was happy and cheerful always. She was an exceptional woman in many ways, a wonderful neighbor and a loyal friend.

She united with the church the age of 10 years and had been a member of the Beech Grove Church for 26 years, having served as treasurer of the Sunday School for a number of years.

Active pallbearers were: Worthy Thompson, Mulford Campbell, Haywood Campbell, Berkley Campbell, Staige Falls and LaVelle Falls.

Honorary pallbearers, who also carried the flowers were: Clarence Campbell, Delmas Campbell, Edd Ewing, Arthur Ewing, Jeter Goodwin and Layman Dodd.

Daisy Elva Coffey and Eddie Slaughter Dodd were married. Eddie Slaughter Dodd, son of George Washington Dodd and Matilda E. Demastus, was born on 24 October 1883 in Nelson Co., VA. Eddie died in Roseland, Nelson Co., VA on 24 November 1954 and was buried at Beech Grove, Nelson Co., VA on 27 November 1954.14620

Eddie Slaughter Dodd, 71, died suddenly at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Roseland. A well-known and prominent farmer in the Nelson County community, he was a member and active worker of the Wintergreen Christian Church. Born Oct. 24, 1883, in Nelson County, Mr. Dodd was a son of the late George Washington and Matilda Demastus Dodd.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Gibson Dodd; the following children by a previous marriage, one son, Melvin Dodd, at home; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Dodd, at home and Miss Celia Dodd, Charlottesville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. James Lafferty, Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. Palmer (Nannie) Campbell, Roseland; two step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home and will be placed in the Wintergreen Christian Church Saturday at 1 p.m. where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Elwood Campbell, assisted by the Rev. John L. McKinney. Interment will be in the Beech Grove Christian Church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Arthur Ewing, Paul Coffey, Johnnie Falls, Ray Falls, Pearson Duncan and Luther McGann.

Honorary bearers will be Pat Coffey, Elmer Fitzgerald, Ernest Fitzgerald, Russell Falls, Landon Phillips, Charles Martin, John J. Coleman, William Hill, Saylor Fitzgerald, B. C. Small, Irvin Campbell Garnett Ewing, Auldman Campbell, Maphis Campbell, Maxie Campbell. Also: Woody Thompson, Layman Dodd, Woodie Dodd, Clinie Fitzgerald, Herman Fields, Thomas Quick, Hawthorne Quick, John L. Thompson, Johnnie Fields, Hawthorne Falls, Jerry Falls, Boney Thompson, Charles Lafferty, David Grove, Hewitt Falls and Jess Hughes.
