Oscar died at Portland Cement Works in Fordwick, Augusta Co., VA on 28 November 1905 by accident and was buried at Stuarts Draft Christian Fellowship Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, Augusta Co., VA on 29 November 1905 .13491 News Article, The Staunton Spectator and Vindicator, Fri., Dec. 1, 1905, Staunton, VA, Vol. 84, Page 4 Another Horrible Accident Another horrible accident occurred at the Virginia Portland Cement Works, at Fordwick on Tuesday morning last by which a young man of the name of Oscar Snead lost his life. Snead was employed by the company and was a work among the machinery in the Raw Material Room. He was missed by his fellow workmen and after search was found cold in death beneath the gearing wheels where he is supposed to have been oiling at the time of his tragic death. The body was disembowelled and horrible crushed and mutilated. This is the fourth fatal accident that has occurred at Fordwick in recent months. The circumstances of the victims death in this case are particularly distressing. Young Snead was only about 23 years of age and was no later that last Spring a happy groom. His young wife survives him and together with her dead husband's brother, accompanied the mangle remains to their last resting place in the southern part of this county about 12 miles from Basic City. The interment took place Wednesday.
