Jacob H. Campbell, eighty-six, died at eight-thirty o'clock Sunday morning at his home near Olivet church after an illness of fourteen months. Mr. Campbell was born in Nelson county, Nov. 4, 1847, but spent practically his entire life in Augusta county, where he farmed. He was a son of Francis and Sarah Grove Campbell. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ella Dodd, Mrs. John Hanover, Mrs. E. O. Carr, all of this county; two brothers, William Campbell, Buchanan; Francis Campbell, this county; a half-brother, Ulysses Campbell, this county; four sisters, Mrs. E. W. Robertson, Mabscott, W. Va.; Mrs. H. A. Coffey, Roanoke; Mrs. Marian Coffey, Lynchburg; Mrs. Lucy Grove, this county; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral was held this afternoon at three o'clock from the residence, conducted by the Rev. Dr. G. G. Martin, of Central Methodist church of which he was a member, assisted by the Rev. W. W. Sprouse, of the Third Presbyterian church. Burial will be in Thornrose cemetery.

Campbell and Mary Elizabeth "Maisy" Coffey were married on 24 October 1867 in Nelson Co., VA.⁴⁸⁶¹ They⁴⁸⁶¹ appeared in the census on 10 June 1880 in Nelson Co., VA.⁴⁸⁶² Mary Elizabeth "Maisy" Coffey, daughter of Charles B. Coffey and Theodora Ophelia Everette, was born on 15 October 1844 in Virginia. Mary died on 28 October 1921 at the age of 77 in Lyndhurst, Augusta Co., VA and was buried at Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton, Independent City., VA.^4859,4860
