Zane Spires

Zane Spires age 78 years of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015 at 1:08 p.m. at her home after several weeks illness.

She was born on July 21, 1937 in Columbia, Ky., the daughter of the late George Melvin and Ruth Rogers Coffey.

She was a member of Cane Valley Baptist Church and was retired from the Fruit of the in Campbellsville.

Mrs. Spires was preceded in death by her husband Preston Carter in 1971 and later married Junior Spires of Columbia who survives.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters Aaron Coffey, Benny Coffey, Junior Coffey, Dorothy "Dottie" Booker and Opal Reliford.

Besides her husband, she is survived by the following: children, Steve Spires of Danville Scott Spires of Kokomo, Ind., Karen Spires of Paducah; one sister, Violet Keltner of Columbia.

Three step-grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survives.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 at S tot t s -Phelps -McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Woodrum and Bro. Rod Keltner officiating.

Pallbears were Steve Spires, Brad Keltner, Rick Keltner, Jeralyn Spires Brian Coffey and Kevin Spires. Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Ima Zane Coffey and Preston Carter were married on 1 October 1954 in Adair Co., KY.⁴⁷³⁹⁶ Preston Carter, son of Otis Carter and Gertie Bean, was born on 17 August 1933. Preston died in Kentucky on 26 June 1971 and was buried at Columbia, Adair Co., KY in June 1971.⁴⁷³⁹⁷
