Born Sept. 12, 1917, in Rockcastle County, Ky., the daughter of Samuel and Mollie Owens Coffey worked for the former Jay Garment Co. and owned a hobby and craft shop in Brookville. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; daughters, Carolyn Clayton and Jacqueline Smith; son, Wayne Morrison; and sister, Daisy Stultz. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville, where visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Morrison, age 95, of Oxford, Ohio, and formerly of Blooming Grove, died Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Knolls of Oxford where he had resided the past several years. Born August 2, 1918, in Manchester, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Cora (Nixon) Morrison. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was united in marriage to the former LouVada Coffey, and she preceded him in death in 2004. Mr. Morrison was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Brookville. He was retired from the former Philco-Ford in Connersville where he was employed for many years. After retirement, he took great pride in his own business, Morrison Antiques, which he ran for several years. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Clayton of Oxford, Ohio, and Jacqueline Smith of Liberty; one son, Wayne (Carmen) Morrison of Oxford, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, LouVada, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Rev. Pete Taylor conducted the graveside services on Saturday, January 18, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Valley Christian Church in Brookville.
