He was born Aug. 4, 1918 in Greenville, a son of John and Maude Coffey. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Wood of Fredericksburg and Debbie Jarvis and, Donna Shifflett, both of Waynesboro; one stepdaughter, Peggy Gochenour of Florida; one brother, Guy L. Coffey of Stuarts Draft; and seven grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. today in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Rev. Amos Rideout. The body was cremated. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Jarvis, Rt. 2, Waynesboro. Memorials may be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
