She was born in Stuarts Draft on May 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Russell Alexander and Louise Kathryn (Coffey) Harris. Dorothy was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Knitting, crocheting, and spending time with family were a few of her favorite hobbies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie A. Harris. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Frazier Burford of Stuarts Draft; sons, Doug Burford and wife, Beverly of Stuarts Draft, Dale Burford and wife, Gail of Stuarts Draft and David Burford and Debbie Weaver of Fishersville; brother, Donnie Lee Harris and wife, Becky of Greenville; four grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Dorothy also leaved behind her four legged friend, Snickers. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 2179 Stuarts Draft Hwy, Stuarts Draft, with Rev. David Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, 375 Kings Hwy North, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 08034.
