I published the Hisaw Family newsletter for eighteen years and I know quite a bit about this family. My mother's maiden name was Hysaw. I have come upon the proverbial 'brick wall' as I try to find the Hysaws before they appear in Rockbridge Co., Virginia in 1778-79, so I am spending more time looking into the Coffeys and Israels, also the Pendleys...neighbors and presumed 'friends and relations of the Hisaws' in the hope I can 'get a clue' as to when they came to America.
