He was a retired dairy farmer, was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II and attended the French Valley United Methodist Church. He was the son of Andy and Ann Wheat Coffey, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Leslie Coffey and one sister, Parky Grider. Survivors include his wife, Marian Blakey Coffey of Columbia; two sons, Ronnie Dale Coffey and Donnie Glenn Coffey, both of Russell Springs; two daughters, Connie J. Kelsey of Bellview, Fla., and Diana Kay Shepard of Russell Springs. Seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 18, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Don Arthur and the Rev. Frederick Haynes officiating. Pallbearers were Ashley Coffey, Chris Coffey, Wesley Coffey, Orvis Grider, Kevin O'Dell and Robbie Morgan. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Coffey, Joe Norman Coffey, Chris Flanagan, Travis Hale and Charles O'Dell. Interment was in Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia. She was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Josie Ellis [sic] [Ellen] Helm Blakey of Russell Co., KY. Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband Alvis Wesley Coffey on March 16, 1999. She is survived by two sons, Ronnie Dale Coffey nd Donnie Glen Coffey, both of Russell Springs, KY; two daughters, Connie J. Kelsey of Belleview, FL and Diana Kay Shepard of Jamestown, KY; three brothers; Oliver Wesley Blakey and Roscoe Blakey, Jr. both of Russell Springs and William Blakey of Jamestown, KY; one sister, Frances Poistor of Louisville, KY; three great grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Coffey was a member of the French Valley Methodist Church and a homemaker. Funeral services were held Friday, September 7, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Rev.
