Berea Businessman Kenneth Coffey Dies

BEREA -- Kenneth Blaine Coffey, an insurance and real estate businessman, died Monday at Berea Hospital, apparently of a heart attack. Coffey, of 110 Norwood Acres, was 58. 

He was the owner of Berea Insurance Agency and Ken Coffey Real Estate on Chestnut Street, both of which he had operated for many years. 

Also active in community affairs, Coffey was a member of the Berea Sewer 

Commission and had served on the Berea Hospital Auxiliary's golf tournament committee. He was a former Berea volunteer firefighter. 

He was a member of Berea Baptist Church and had been a member of the local Lions Club and the Sons of the American Revolution. 

Coffey, a Madison County native, was a 1952 graduate of Berea College and served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. 

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Coffey; a son, Kenneth Dean Coffey of Berea; and his mother, Hazel Dean of Berea. 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Berea Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Wray Funeral Home.
