Coffey 76 of Santa Rosa, MO passed away Sunday May 12, 2013 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center. Memorial graveside services and inurnment will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday May 16th at Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Ronald D. Coffey was born June 27th 1936 to Austin and Margie (Brunk) in Fillmore, MO. He lived in the Santa Rosa and Maysville areas most of his life where he attended school in Maysville. In 1950 Ronald enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After returning home from the military Ronald was a self-employed contractor specializing in construction, he worked for Herzog traveling all over country and later owned and operated his own trucking company. He returned back to construction where he would bid on government jobs building ponds and terraces for as well as working for individuals. His skill and knowledge gave him the confidence to tackle any job with ease. Ronald never met a stranger and made lasting relationship wherever the job took him. Ronald was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge in St. Joseph. He loved to attend and participate in garden tractor pulls and was always eager for the next pull. He delighted in spending time with his grandkids and watching them after school; he looked forward to hearing about their day. When time permitted you could find him camping and enjoying the outdoors. Ronald was a loving Dad, Grandpa and brother who focused on his family. His value of work and family made him the man he was; Ronald will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lavon and Lawrence, wife Dixie in 1967 and wife of 45 years Wilma in 2012. Survivors include his sons, Brian Coffey and wife Jo of Santa Rosa, Lawrence Coffey and wife Wendy of Weatherby and Tim Coffey of Daytona, FL, Step-daughters, Terry Steiner and husband Steve, Warsaw, MO, Vicki Halamar and husband Tony, Erlham, IA, Sharon White, St. Joseph, MO, Lori Head and husband Kenny, Stewartsville, MO, brother, Carl Coffey and wife Joyce, Union Star, MO, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Living resided with her parents in Cameron, Clinton Co., MO in 1940. Ronald Dean Coffey and Dixie Lee Wilson were married on 29 April 1961 in Missouri. Dixie Lee Wilson was born on 28 June 1942 in Saint Joseph, Buchanan Co., MO. She attended Amity, Grandview, and Maysville Schools, and graduated from Gards Business Academy in St. Joseph. Wilma was employed at National Bellas Hess, American Angus Association, and Producers Livestock in St. Joseph. She served 28 years of government service with the United States Census Bureau, and retired from the farm service in Maysville, Mo. in January of 2006. After retirement, she became a homebody to care for her husband Ronald and her two special pet friends, Cricket and Cali. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ocle, Novral, Darrel, and Keith Spalding. She is survived by her husband, Ronald; children, Terry (Steve) Steiner; Vicki (Tony) Halimar, Elkhart, Iowa; Sharon White, St. Joseph; Lori (Kenny) Head, Stewartsville, Mo.; Lawrence (Wendy) Coffey, Weatherby, Mo.; Brian (JO) Coffey, Pattonsburg, Mo., and Tim Coffey, Nimes, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
