Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Vaden Morgan officiating. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Coffey, Wayne Coffey Sr., Clay Coffey, Jeremy Coffey, Wayne Coffey Jr. and Jake Coffey. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 Tuesday. Mary was born on November 27, 1909 in Coleman, Texas to Sidney and Elizabeth Davis Smith. She finished high school and attended Abilene Christian College. She married Tandy Coffey on September 4, 1930 and started working and building a life together. Things were pretty tough in those days as we were in a depression in the 30s at that time. They both had wonderful life together. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1967. On September 18, 1931 a son was born T.C. Coffey Jr. Mary's grandparents had a nice ranch on the Colorado River. Her grandpa was married to Wayne Chisholm's sister. Her dad made cattle drives with Wayne Chisholm. Her father Sidney Smith was a church of Christ preacher. He rode horseback over the country to preach. He was called a circuit preacher. In 1934 a little brother was born William L. In 1936 a little sister was born Mary Eirys. In 1937 another sister was born to them Cecil Elizabeth and in 1954 they adopted a little boy Jimmy Dale Coffey. Mary was a living example of her faith in God. She loved to write poetry and had a lot of them in memory. She would go to church and bring half of the congregation home with her and would have her kids kill chickens to feed them all with corn, beans and of course biscuits and gravy. She loved her garden. She would grow and can what she could for winter. She was a wonderful cook and a very good provider. We will all miss her very much. She is survived by 1 son T.C. Coffey Jr. of Denison, 3 sisters Lucy Williams, Fanny Gibson of Amarillo, TX and Orlue Pruett of Brownwood, TX. 13 Grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children William L. Coffey, Mary Eirys Coffey, Cecil Elizabeth Coffey and Jimmy Dale Coffey. 3 Brothers, Fred Smith, Van Smith, Edwin Smith and 1 sister Lena Davis.
