Mildred "Milley" Coffey was born circa 1765 in Virginia.208 Mildred died on 28 September 1823 at the age of 58 in Todd Co., KY and was buried at Crouch Cemetery in Todd Co., KY.209 Mildred "Milley" Coffey and Samuel Coleman were married in 1783 in Albemarle Co., VA.210,211 Samuel Coleman212, son of James Coleman and Elizabeth Leake, was born in 1752 in Albemarle Co., VA.208 Samuel died in August 1824 at the age of 72 in Todd Co., KY and was buried at Family Farm Cemetery in Todd Co., KY.212 From Biographical Souvenir of the State of Texas, page 558: 'Samuel Coleman of Todd County, Ky, a gentleman who bore the distinction of having served seven years in the Colonies War for Independence, and after the struggle of having settled in Kentucky and becoming a pioneer; his death took place in the county of his adoption at an early age.'" Rev. war records show that he served with Capt. John Mark's company in the 14th Virginia Regiment of Foot commanded by Col. Charles Lewis and that he survived Valley Forge. He was also at Camp Middlebrook and Smith's Grove during the war. After the war and after his marriage to Milley, they relocated to Lincoln Co., KY around 1800 and received his first land grant of 180 acres in 1801. He sold his estate in Albemarle Co., VA in 1802. Casey county, KY came out of Lincoln county and the 180 acre Lincoln county grant fell in Casey county. Samuel and Milley are buried on the old farm. According to this source, there are two cemeteries on the old home place but stones have been broken and trampled by free roaming cattle. Milley's headstone was inscribed "Milley Coleman departed this life September 28, 1823 in the 58th year of her age." Samuel's headstone was destroyed by lightning but is believed to have died in late August, 1824. --- "Samuel Coleman - One of the pioneer settlers of Todd County was a Revolutionary War soldier, Samuel Coleman. He was the son of James Coleman and Elizabeth Leake of Albemarle County, VA; James was the son of Samuel Coleman and Ann Mourning Christian of Goochland County, VA. Samuel was born in Albemarle County, VA, 1752, and he died in Todd County, KY, August 1824. He was married in Albemarle County, VA, in 1785 to Milley Coffey, born 1765, died Sept. 28, 1823. Milley Coffey was the daughter of William Coffey of Nelson County, VA, who died after his daughter, Milley, died in 1828.
