COMANCHE -- Funeral services for Robert McFatridge will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at Morehead-Goetz Funeral Home chapel in Comanche with the Rev. Jimmy Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Mr. McFatridge was born Nov. 7, 1899, east of Comanche, Okla., near Mud Creek, to James and Mary Wise McFatridge. He departed this life on Sunday, June 10, 2000, in Ryan, at the age of 100 years, seven months and three days.

He and his family moved west of Duncan when he was 7 where he grew up and attended Stagestand School. At age 17 he went to work in the oilfields near Burkburnett, Texas.

Robert married Artie Christene "Tenie" Coffey on Jan. 10, 1923, near the Stagestand School and they made their home southwest of Corum. She preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1997, after 74 years of marriage.

He and his family moved to Ryan and then to Comanche in the late 1930s where he ran a mechanic shop. In 1937, he went to work for Fitzgerald's Chevrolet as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 1965. After retiring he owned a mechanic shop for another 10 years. McFatridge was a member of First Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by a son, J.F. McFatridge; three brothers; and five sisters.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton and Reva McFatridge, Topeka, Kan., Haskell and Edna McFatridge of Meridian, and Bill and Sharon McFatridge of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Dan Cupit of Comanche; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
