Born February 1, 1949 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, he was a son of the late Jesse and Jane Townsend Coffey and the husband of Brenda Logan Coffey of the home. Mr. Coffey served 15 years in the US Marine Corps and later retired from the US Army. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an active member of the Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard and loved the outdoors and his horses. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Troy Coffey. Surviving other than his wife is his daughter, Becky Coffey Hunter, his three sons, Michael Coffey and wife Cheryl; James Coffey and wife Kim; Troy Coffey and wife Sue; 2 sisters, Gladys Estes, Nellie Coffey; 4 brothers, Benson Coffey, James Coffey, Roy Coffey, George Coffey; 8 Grandchildren, Amanda Shutt, Anthony Coffey, Josh Coffey, Paul Coffey, Sam Coffey, Ashley Coffey, Chris Coffey, Tyler Coffey and 3 Great-Grandchildren, Marshall Coffey, Mikey Coffey and Xander Shutt. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Coffey Residence, 3560 Lonesome Dove Lane, Granite Falls with Reverend Rodney Raby officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 until 6:30 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. Brenda died at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC on 31 March 2018 and a celebration of life was held In Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC at Evans Funeral Service Chapel on 4 April 2018. |
