LOVINGSTON-Mrs. Esther Coffey Tice, 73, widow of W. Leonard Tice, died yesterday at 2:30 p.m. She was born in Nelson County Sept. 23, 1891, the daughter of James Pinckney and Sarah Campbell Coffey. She was a member of the Massie Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Frank Mays and Mrs. Stanley Mays, both of Lovingston, Mrs. John Dillard of Lynchburg and Mrs. J. D. Johnson of Roseland; two step-daughters, Mrs. Dave Grove of Roseland and Mrs. Robert Hamilton of Tyro; one stepson, Douglas Tice of San Diego, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. K. R. Jordan and Mrs. Bessie Campbell, both of Tyro, and Miss Alma Coffey of Oakhurst, N. J.; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow from the Jonesboro Baptist Church. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery. The body will be at Sheffield Funeral Home until noon tomorrow.

Sarah Esther Coffey and William Leonard Tice were married. William Leonard Tice was born on 27 April 1868 in Nelson Co., VA. William died in Lovingston, Nelson Co., VA on 23 October 1952. On 25 October 1952.14874

ROCKFISH VALLEY-William Leonard Tice, 84, of Freshwater Cove, Lovingston, died unexpectedly Thursday evening after being ill only a short while.

Born in Nelson County on April 27, 1868, he was the son of the late George Washington and Martha Mays Tice. He was a member of the Massie Memorial Baptist Church in Freshwater Cove.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Esther Coffey Tice, at home; six daughters, Mrs. David Grove, of the Beech Grove community here; Mrs. J. D. Johnson, Roseland; Mrs. Jack Dillard, Arlington; Mrs. Frank Mays and Mrs. Stanley Mays, Lovingston; and Mrs. Robert Hamilton, Tyree; one son, Douglas Tice, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Emmett Tice, Forest, and George Tice, Tyro; one sister, Mrs. Buena McGann, of the Beech Grove community; twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Piney River Funeral Home by the Rev. A. T. Francis, Massies Mill, with burial in the Jonesboro Baptist Church cemetery.

Active pallbearers were three of Mr. Tice's grandson, Page Grove, Frank Mays and Julian Johnson, also Elwood Campbell, Harry McGann and Clark Jordan.
