She was born July 10, 1917, in Nelson County, the daughter of the late George E. and Bessie (Fitzgerald) Campbell. On June 2, 1935, she was married to the late Carless W. Demastus, who preceded her in death April 1, 1980. She was a founding member of Sand Springs Baptist Church in Sherando, where she attended for more than 53 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and spending time with her family the most. When she was able, she loved to take a ride out with her daughter, Louise. She is survived by her daughter, Louise E. Griffin of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Ray J. Campbell of Staunton; a daughter-in-law, Catherine of Florida; a special friend, Barbara Thompson of Stuarts Draft; six grandchildren, Keith Griffin and Kimberly Griffin Young and husband, Joe, all of Stuarts Draft, and Vicki Gay and husband, Jack, Patti Hill and husband, Chris, Kathy Leone and husband, Pat, and Randy Demastus and wife, Missy, all of Florida; 10 great-grandchildren, Hope and Sara Young of Stuarts Draft, Andy, Shane, Sean, Danielle, Katie, Kasey and Korey, all of Florida, and Jaime of South Carolina; five great-great-grandchildren of Florida; and one great-great-grandchild of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by a son, James M. Demastus; six brothers, Raymond, Ralph, Eldon, Wilson, Hall and Donald Campbell; a sister, Mary "Tootie" Snead; and a son-in-law, Stanley B. Griffin. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Sand Springs Baptist Church, located at 2724 Mount Torrey Road in Sherando, with the Revs. Doug Cox and Billy Coffey officiating. Interment will be at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro. Daisy Bell Campbell and Carless W. Demastus were married. Carless W. Demastus was born in 1910 in Virginia. Carless died in Virginia in 1980 and was buried at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Independent City, VA in 1980 .30185 |
